
Before: Create Sacred Space
- Find a place in your home where you can be free from interruptions and distractions. Ensure the area is clear, fresh, clean and free of clutter and is big enough for a blanket or tapestry that you both can sit on.
- Cleanse the Space Use sacred smoke: Burn sage or palo santo to clear away unwanted energies or diffuse within it an essential oil that you both like. Make sure a window or door is open to allow the smoke and negative energy to escape if you choose to burn sage or palo santo.
- Place special objects that hold personal meaning for you on a table or surface or in the center of a blanket or tapestry on the floor. Incorporate items like candles, flowers, crystals, or photographs of yourselves that your particularly love. Have a way to play music without words as your background equipped with music tracks that you both enjoy.
During: Arrive at your Sacred Space clear, clean, refreshed and relaxed, with a drink of whatever you enjoy most.
- Engage in a long hug.
- Sit comfortably facing each other.
- Share, each in turn for 20 minutes max. Set a timer. If your partner hesitates or gets stumped and can’t think of 5, simply ask “What else do you love about me? Say nothing else until they’re done. Relax, close your eyes and let them sink in. Once you feel like opening them, nudge your partner for their turn.
